Past Events

2008 was a fabulous year for WIFT! From state legislative efforts to networking to high-profile industry seminars, we were behind the scenes and up-front with a plethora of opportunities for personal growth, career advancement and education.

Here are just a few of the things WIFT-FL achieved in 2008:

  • Continued to support FAME (Florida Alliance of Media & Entertainment) to help fund and support a fulltime industry lobbyist in Tallahassee -- giving us a fulltime presence among lawmakers, and a voice in the political process.
  • Hosted several terrific networking opportunities and events including:
    • Membership meeting at FIEA and House of Moves (February)
    • Florida Film Festival sponsored events (February)
    • Member Bowling Outing (March)
    • Film Florida Legends Awards (June)
    • Membership Meeting: DNP Productions (July)
    • Sara Fuller Khaki and White Casino Night, benefitting the Sara Fuller Student Scholarship (June)
    • State of the Industry Incentive Fundraising Event (September)
    • LUNAFEST: Short Films By, For and About Women, benefitting The Breast Cancer Fund (October)
    • Orlando Film Festival sponsored events (November)
    • How to Survive Showbiz Almost Intact luncheon with keynote speaker & NYWIFT Member Sharon Badal (Nov)
    • Jingle Mingle Holiday Event and Silent Auction (December)
    • Date Night at Leu Gardens (March – November)
  • Activation of our On-line Membership Directory
  • Continued alliance with WIFT International, expanding our members’ reach globally
  • Newly formed action committees including: Membership, Mentorship/Scholarship, Programming and PR/Website. Volunteer and become involved!
